I've just visited "Mata Aeru Hi Made" webbie jus now and read the essay by Ding. Aww...it's so sad..tears jus flow down my eyes involuntarily as memories started flashing back one by one.
It's a pity, real pity that we, singaporean cant share the memories of the first 2 weeks with all the AFS Asean students. From the essay, we really did missed alot fun. We missed the orientation everyone had. We missed the 'first time' ofuro experience with everyone else. Which make us, singapore so sua-ku when mayumi taught us how to use it.
Still remember our(sporeans) first meeting in the pavilion on a rainy day. Most of us were quiet. So unfamiliar with each other. Like we're all so forced to work together. Days when we walked our way thru orchard road just to get to the Jap embassy for our interviews n briefing. Times when we meet up just to practice our 'sashays', 'catwalks', do our big singapore poster and comb almost all the souvenirs shops we knew.
Still remember the first day we reached japan? everyone started taking out cameras to take sashins outside the airport, in the hotel... The next day, we had our mini orientation n briefing when we learnt our first Hajimemashite, watashi wa namae desu. Ju-go sai desu. Singapore kara kimashita. Dozo yoroshiku onegaishimasu. Bought our phones cards n practise using a public phone. Soon enough, we started saying bye to each other as one by one left for their host families.
One week of experience with host families carved a deep beautiful picture in each of our hearts. Every unique experience of each greatly affects our emotions. But wat i believed the one common thing is the warmth n friendliness the families n sch friends gave us. Beautiful sights of snow started trickling down the sky as a farewell gift on the day of leaving our families for e Osaka, Kyoto n Nagoya students. Of course, Hokkaido had been snowing all e while.
Miraculously, the bond between us(sporeans) suddenly became so close after the one week stay. We started blabbing out our experience the moment we saw each other. The bus rides with the thai students and everyone started clappin when elmo song was played. The lame jokes we had along the way abt the incinerator n the 'big cigarette'. The stupid mouth action by me when jacinth wanted me to copy out the script all over again n lynn spotted it. Hey, remember the 'sexy' voice of mine when i practically had no voice at all, but tried so hard to sing even one sentence of 'superman'??? They days when we had our code of the trip as "Flirtin is good"!!! When Van went haywire over tomo, Lynn went crazy over P, Wani got charmed by Ken, i was mad over the wild cats...n eugene had soooo many phone calls frm jap girls...!!!lolx. Still remember the time when we took pic outside the hotel with the stupid mouth pose? OMG, wild cats that guy walk pass lor. i practically melt at that time. At first, i wanted to chase over, but they all pulled me away as we are 'running for our lives' away from jacinth. Lynn, van, wany n me pulled each other hands like too-too train, followed by eugene n junlong behind us, running up escalators till we reached the top floor. Then, we felt so proud of ourselves for running away, that we went n take neoprints happily. :)
Our unforgetable memories in the toilet seeing ppl strippin themselves naked and we stood there like nerds wondering wat to do until mayumi taught us the proper way of using the Ofuro. The very first time, forgetting the shyness, we counted 1-2-3 and strip ourselves in high speed, stretched e towel to full length to wrap ourselves up n off we rushed into the shower n later had a nice dip in the hot bath. Soon enuff, this brings us closer to each other like sisters. N that is when we started the Ah ma, mummy, n sun nu-s thingy...Oh manz, i'm e oldest so i'm e ah ma...erm, this is the girls side. i dunno abt the boy's side but i'm sure they're not as sua-ku as us, rite? hahas
All of us gets so bonded till we bunk over at each other room for nights. There's even one day when 10 of us, 6 girls n 4 boys squeezed ourselves in one room snoring away. Days when we hug together, laugh together n cried together. Despite of all these, quarrels among us, unhappiness with one another is also unavoidable.
The first day at NYC was so disheartening when we had to separate room n sleep with other afs students. But the "jay chou" joke welcome us at the lift n lightens everyone's heart as we started laughing like hell again!!! Once when van and i got lost from the group and went up n down the auditorium n canteen upteem times until we saw eugene. Van was so upset over tomo till both of us sat down on the floor right in the middle of the passageway n eugene felt so disgraced. Sorry to say, i still remember kang wei wearing his red turtle collar shirt which looks so 'gu niang'..*oopz*
It's the first time spending christmas abroad. All of us were so excited. The christmas party we had. The crazy dancing n jumpin ard we had. The huggings n sashins taking. The joke van made out of herself when she bang right into 'jay cou2' while taking sashin. The time when we found out that 'jay chou' looks so much like drug addict while dancing n he actually stinks!!! Lynn, wani n me were purposely insulting tomo's tattered n torn levi's jeans infront of van...
Moment that we all cried so badly when it's the time to leave for singapore at the narita airport. All of us wearing the afs t-shirt n tying the scarf ard our waist as a trademark. Oh man, it's so sad...
It's really a unforgetable memory for e 10 of us. The days we spent together were really sugoi!!!
hmm....did i miss out on any jokes?
Some sashins...:
